Wednesday Night Paddling (A Picture Essay)

Posted by

I’ve put up a few posts waxing lyrical about my Wednesday Night Paddles, and so I thought this week I’d take my Go Pro along, set it to take a photo every 30 seconds and see what comes out .

It took nearly 300 photos, but here’s a slightly briefer summary if you want to scroll down and see a Wednesday night paddle in 3 minutes or less …

Everyone getting ready …
Some less ready than others …
Ah yes, the waiting around for 6pm
Obviously a new person … we don’t stretch and warm up … crazy stuff.
Finally we notice that the water is actually 50 metres from where we’ve all put our boats
Two boats are quicker than one ..
Now we’re ready to go
Though some are still chatting and getting ready …
We’re off …
Oh, I’m in my ski because my knee injury has flared up
Now we’re off
And I’m quickly in the rear of the pack.
Slipping further behind …
Some late starters going by …
More late starters …
Then it’s just me and Janet enjoying the evening …
(This week as a “Come and Try It” week)
Oh yea, to think I could be home in front of TV right now ..
Cartwright Point where the “intro” paddlers turn around.
Turning Point
… and heading home
Meeting another late starter on his way out …
I have no idea what I was doing here, but I seem to be missing a paddle.
Evening colours
No one’s in a rush to get home …
Little bit of chop as we get past Sandy Bay Point
Couldn’t resist a short downwind dash.   Janet’s waiting for me.
Almost home.
The front paddlers catching us on the way back after they went to Crayfish Point
Back on land … and the tides in!
One last carry …
Another great night’s paddling … now for pizza.
